Tips for Healthy Lungs

Most people want to get healthier. However, they rarely consider protecting and maintaining their lung health.

It's time to make a change. In the same way as your heart, joints, and other parts of your body, your lungs age over time. It can become harder to breathe when they lose flexibility and strength. It is possible to maintain the health of your lungs more effectively by adopting certain healthy habits.

Protect your respiratory system this summer with Vitatree. Simply follow these tips below!

1. Clean your space and avoid exposure to pollutants

As you age, you may experience lung damage as a result of exposure to pollutants in the air. It's easier for your lungs to resist these toxins when they're young and strong. Eventually, however, this resistance is lost and they become more vulnerable to diseases and infections.

Indoor pollution is typically more harmful than outdoor. Additionally, people spend most of their time indoors these days, which increases their exposure to indoor pollutants. Maintaining a clean and airy living space is therefore highly recommended, including dusting furniture and vacuuming the house, opening windows frequently for airflow.

2. Prevent infections

Infections can be particularly dangerous for your lungs, especially as you age. Keeping your hands clean is the best way to prevent lung infections. Maintain a regular hygiene routine by washing with warm water and soap, and avoid touching your face whenever possible.

Stay up-to-date with your vaccinations. Get a flu shot each year.

3. Practice breathing exercises

Exercise is probably the most important thing you can do for the health of your lungs, along with avoiding cigarettes. Exercise keeps your body in shape, but it also keeps your lungs healthy. During exercise, your breathing increases from about 15 times a minute to about 40 to 60 times a minute. Hence, it's important to regularly engage in aerobic exercises that make you breathe deeply.

Meanwhile, deep breathing aids in clearing the lungs and ensures a full exchange of oxygen. Practice breathing exercises can help you breathe more efficiently. Try it yourself by sitting somewhere quiet and breathing slowly through your nose. Then breathe out at least twice as long through your mouth. It may help to count your breaths.

4. Add supplement for extra support

Many people with a busy schedule will not be able to meet our ideal environment solely through their daily lives. Taking supplements is also add-in support for your lungs' health.
