Tips for Eye Health

Throughout the day, our eyes are always working hard. Excessive time spending on staring at the computer or phone screen can lead to eye strain symptoms including blurred vision and dry eyes.

Check out these simple tips to ease the burden of screen time on the eyes.

1. Suitable distance

By maintaining a proper distance between your eyes and the computer screen, you can reduce the strain on your eyes. Position your computer screen so that it is between 40 and 76 centimetres from your eyes. The top level with, or slightly below, your eyes. The screen is tilted away from you at a 10- to 20- degree angle.

 

2. 20-20-20 Rule

People who suffer from eye strain may find it helpful to apply the 20-20-20 rule to ease their discomfort. Every 20 minutes, look at an object at least 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. It is an easy and simple rule to follow. Remember to practice the rule whenever you can.

3. Eye Drops

If you are using a computer for extended periods of time, eye drops will keep your eyes lubricated and feel refresh. Artificial tears are available over-the-counter (OTC) for use when your eyes are dry. When OTC eye drops and adjustments to your environment don't work, see your eye doctor. For chronic dry eye, prescription eye drops may be recommended.

4. Support the eye health
